aotearoa

Aotearoa is the Māori name for New Zealand, it means "the land of the long white cloud".

As a small island nation, nestled in the south  pacific, it harbors everything from wild and rugged coastlines, golden beaches, geothermal springs, to the laid back Kiwi lifestyle and rich indigenous cultures.

From majestic mountains, lush forests and mist-cloaked fiords, you can feel like the only person on earth. You can find quaint towns set up for thrill seekers and ski bunnies. You can find big cities with eclectic offerings of local music, galleries, restaurants and cafe's.

As our turangawaewae ~ our "place of standing" "our home", Chelsea and Kim are excited to share the natural beauty and warmth that Aotearoa has to offer.

experience

Aligned to pāpatuanuku (mother earth) we host our retreats according to the seasons.

Summer (December to April)

The classic kiwi summer is spent on the beach, soaking up the sun, frolicking in the waves, hiking in forest or sailing around the sounds or bays.

Autumn (April to June)

Enjoy settled weather as the leaves turn golden, the night skies are bright with stars as we prepare for the Māori new year and winter solstice.

Winter (June to September)

Enjoy thermal hot spring baths, followed by cozy fireside musing, under ice tipped mountains, are the delights of our shortest days.

Spring (September to December)

Optimize every moment as the bee's are a buzz with the blooming of native flora, Pohutukawa and Manuka, gifting us long daylight hours with 9pm sunsets.

what our clients say...

For anybody wishing to experience a wonderful yoga retreat then I would highly recommend a Te Awa journey.
Situated at Otaki Gorge Kimi & Chelsea along with many other facilitators completely met all my needs. Beautiful location, people, yoga, healing and fun. Amazing plant based food along with plenty of rest.
I look forward to next time as this was the best retreat I've ever been on in New Zealand.
Much love to you all and thank you
